What’s the Right Track for You? Now that’s a loaded question!
Many people seek council when they are struggling with what direction they should be taking in their lives. Some are going through a significant change while others aren’t feeling the passion for life they once did.
Because this is such a common issue that arises for many of us, I wanted to provide some general insights as a response to one woman I’ll call “Helen” who wrote the following message to me.
“I feel that I am evolving in my work with people but am not sure which road to take. I want so much to help people with their suffering – anxiety and fears. I chose the Serpent card and this rings true. There is so much knowledge and material out there and it is difficult to choose what would be the right track for me. I am 65 but am not stopped by that although I am not particularly interested in a longer study. So my question is how do I become clear as to what road to choose?”
There are several questions to ask yourself when trying to sort out your next course along your life’s track. Some are directed towards Helen’s issue, while most of them can be generally applied.
- What resonates with you?
- What types of courses are presently being offered that you could attend? Do you know anyone who has taken them so you can get a sense of the content before committing?
- What kind of outcome do you want to have for people? You want to help people with suffering, so is it your desire to help them physically, mentally, or holistically?
- Do you see yourself bringing joy, or being a source of support through their suffering?
- What is your mission?
- What are you willing to expose yourself to on a regular basis? Is this the best thing for you?
- What kind of experience do I want to have while you’re speaking to these people? Will you be providing a short-term experience for others or will people be depending on you for longer service?
- What kind of sacrifice are you willing to make for this new step? How many hours are you willing to put into study? It will be a sacrifice.
- How much do you want to earn from this? Do you have a sense of the level of prosperity you would like or is this a volunteer effort?
- What particular niche interests you and how far along the spectrum do you want to venture? For instance, Angel Therapy draws people who want to work with angels. Or do you want to go a little bit more to the middle and work with Matrix Energetics?
- What is your idea of your perfect client? What are the main characteristics of the people with whom you want to work every day?
I recommend that anyone interested in taking on a new course in life and career take the time to journal and/or meditated on what that “new life” will look like? What is your vision for the actual day-to-day activities and people who will become part of your life? See it, feel it and then follow your most informed sense of what is best for you and the people you will serve.
Many blessings,

There were probably a lot of people who never would have guessed I was not on the right track. I was VP in a corporation where I had been for 25 years. I owned a condo townhouse with the mortgage nearly paid, a nice car, money available for nice things. For a long time, I don’t think even I was 100% sure that this was not enough for me. My Taurus sensibilities were very pleased with the status quo. Then after both parents (especially my father, 12 years after my mother) had passed, I got restless. The job was steady, but it was stressful and left me little time for anything else. Once I began to explore things I had loved in the past that were not in the present, I re-awakened those desires and wishes, and felt that it WAS possible to make the dreams come true! And through that, I found YOU and YOUR approach to helping others.
Let me just encourage those who think it is hopeless. It is not. It doesn’t have to happen overnight, either. I am still in a corporate job, but pursuing that which I love. And knowing that the future holds something wonderful as long as I continue to work for it, slow and steady (one of my favorite cards in The Enchanted Map deck) is a big stress-buster! I do continue to ask the questions, jsut to make sure I am still on the right track! I am!
love this thanx for writing Rhonda oxoxo you are one of a kind 😉
Definitely a loaded question — especially when trying to determine your path feels fraught with peril at potentially manifesting more of the same “interesting” experiences into your life.
I work full time and two part time jobs! Crazy, isn’t it? Thinly spread from Sept til June, I grasp at moments for decompressing. Circling the sun every June 9th, time has made me 64. Afraid to say the word “Plan” to take the yoga instructors course so that I can give up the part time retail job out loud. Why? Worried that if I tell someone, it won’t be able to happen. So, Colette and fellow Tribe members, i am telling you. I knowi have to just do it to be the change I want to see. So, I am going to work on that.
Yes, I must get paid.
Yes, I need to save for my old age, ha ha.
Yes, I need to focus.
Yes, I need to be the center of my universe.
Yes, I need to surround myself with like minded people.
Yes, I will walk my talk!
How did I miss this blog post?
Anyhoo………….. I truly believed I was on the “right track” , then just like a train, the tracks switched near the station and I now travel a different track. When the train switched it was scary. Once I let go of the controls and trusted the Universe, I gained speed and am still going.
Thank you for this…………it really brought me wisdom ! xoxox
