Have you ever experienced a time in your life where you felt deeply connected to Spirit? Where things seemed to just flow and you knew you were on the path of your highest good?
Throughout your life, your feeling of connectedness to Spirit and your spiritual journey may ebb and flow. For many of us, there are times when we feel a sense of Divine guidance and clarity about our spiritual path, and other times when we feel disconnected, or even lost.
Even the most spiritual people might wonder how they can take their spiritual journey to the next level. How they can deepen their connection to the Universe and live Spirit-led lives in alignment with their highest good.
I find the concept of a “next level” spiritual journey kind of funny, because spiritual awakening isn’t really about upleveling or doing something more or better – there’s no hierarchy of spirituality. Instead, it’s about consistency and commitment. It’s about staying the course and keeping going, even when you might not feel the motivation or desire.
In the many phases of life, there will be days we feel like doing the things that keep us grounded, connected, and in flow, and other days we don’t. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my spiritual journey, it’s that the consistency of our practice is where the magic happens.
Finding your unique spiritual awakening takes commitment
After decades of exploring my own spirituality and helping others live lives connected to Spirit, I’ve learned that a fulfilling spiritual life is the result of dedication.
Often people think it’s enough to meditate once a week, or pull an Oracle card when they feel the desire for guidance from the Universe – but it’s not.
If you really want to take your spiritual journey to the next level or experience a sense of more connectedness and flow, simply practice more.
Don’t meditate just once a day, meditate every day.
Don’t pull a card only when you feel called, make a commitment to pulling one each morning as a part of your routine and practice.
A spiritual practice is just that, a practice. And just like anything you practice, the more you do it, the better it gets.
It’s common for people to just dip their toes into spirituality. They try out a few spiritual tools and dabble in meditation, but they don’t stay consistent. Then, they wonder why they don’t feel the sense of guidance and groundedness they’re craving in their day-to-day life. They wonder why the feeling of guidance and support doesn’t feel present all the time.
The answer is consistency. It’s in the moments when you don’t feel like getting up for your morning meditation, but you do it anyway. When you’re busy, but you make time to read an inspiring book or pull your daily card anyway. This is where your practice and your journey start to deepen. This is where the magic happens.
If you’ve tried on spirituality but you haven’t gone all in, it’s time to recommit. It’s time to find a practice that works for you and not let yourself waver in it. You’ll be amazed at the results you see. And if you’re brand new to spirituality, read my article on How To Start Your Spiritual Journey.
Daily meditation is the best place to start
There are, of course, lots of wonderful ways to explore your spirituality and your connection to the Universe. Over the course of my spiritual journey though, I’ve discovered that meditation is an essential ingredient to any thriving spiritual practice.
After practicing meditation myself for decades and helping thousands of people discover the magic of a regular meditation practice, I’ve seen the results it brings people. Meditation helps us quiet our minds, reduces stress, and connects us back with our highest selves and our higher power.
If you’re looking for a way to bring your spiritual practice to the next level, or simply to feel more grounded, connected, and guided – meditate more. If you already have a meditation practice, start meditating for longer stretches. If you meditate sometimes, start doing it daily, even if it’s only for 5 minutes each day to start.
Remember that a spiritual journey is a journey back to you.
Spiritual awakening is really about living in alignment with your highest self. Meditation allows you to quiet the outside noise and find a place of calm, groundedness, and peace so you can hear your own intuition and make decisions that are in alignment for you.
Oracle Cards can help deepen your practice
Although meditation is the foundation of a fulfilling spiritual practice, it should come as no surprise that Oracle Cards are one of my other favorite spiritual tools. In fact, I think Oracle cards are the perfect tool for practical spirituality!
In Oracle School, I encourage my students to take part in the practice of pulling an Oracle Card every single day. If this isn’t
something you’re already doing, then it’s time to start! You don’t even have to buy an Oracle deck to do it, just click here to use my free online Oracle card decks. This simple daily ritual has helped thousands of my students to transform their lives, feel more grounded and spiritually connected, and find guidance on their paths to their unique, authentic, and inspired lives, and it can work for you too!
Even beyond Oracle School, I’ve taught tens of thousands of other people around the world how to use Oracle Cards, and how this spiritual tool can help you begin trusting your intuition and making decisions in alignment with guidance from Spirit.
If you’re curious about committing to a more regular practice using Oracle Cards, my course Oracle Cards 101 will give everything you need to know about how to read Oracle cards for yourself in just 30 days.
Books to support your spiritual journey
Beyond spiritual practices like meditation and pulling Oracle Cards, you can make progress on your spiritual journey by finding things that inspire you along the way.
Books are one of the best spiritual tools available to us. They allow us the chance to learn concepts and read stories that awaken us and ignite the next level of curiosity or inspiration we need. The right book can change your life and might help lead you to the next practice, teacher, or spiritual community along your path.
Here are a few books I love that will support you in finding what’s next in your spiritual journey:
1. The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World – by the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, and Douglas Carlton Abrams
This is my absolute favorite book of the year! I read the print copy once on my own, then with my Dreamquest Intensive coaching group, and then I downloaded the audiobook so I can listen to it while I paint. Yes, I loved it that much!
The Book of Joy is a conversation between the Dalai Lama and Bishop Desmond Tutu – two incredible spiritual teachers who are also known as some of the most infectiously happy people on the planet. Despite having faced immense adversity and deep hardship and suffering, both of these men have found a way to live a life of joy in spite of everything.
If you want to take your spiritual journey to the next level, this book will absolutely help you by putting things into perspective and putting all of the worries and issues of your life into right size again. This book will inspire you to live a life of deep and abiding gratitude and happiness.
2. The Untethered Soul – Michael Singer
This book is a wonderful read for anyone dedicated to their spiritual awakening.
The Untethered Soul will help you explore your consciousness and its impact on you, and it will show you how to release the internal challenges you bump up against on your spiritual journey so you can embrace the concept of surrender.
Michael Singer shows us in a practical and easy read how we are not tethered to this physical world and helps us journey beyond ourselves to a place of peace and freedom
3. Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life – by Karen Armstrong
Karen Armstrong is one of my favorite writers!
She is a former nun who has written some of the best books of understanding the history and philosophy of spirituality. In this book, she uses the concept of the 12 steps to help us cultivate a life with more compassion for ourselves and others.
This book is an invitation to see life through the lens of compassion. It will help you find forgiveness and show you the beauty of living a compassionate life.
Use Curiosity to Explore Your Spiritual Path
One of the beautiful things about a spiritual journey is that there’s no right or wrong way to do it. Everyone’s path and story is unique. If you’re craving something more when it comes to your spiritual life, it’s a good time to get curious.
One of the benefits of committing to a spiritual practice is that it helps us get to know our inner selves – to get curious about what’s happening in our inner worlds. Chances are, the answers to what’s next on your spiritual journey will be within, rather than in any outside resource.
The most important thing is that you listen to the inner nudge you feel and commit yourself to your practice. Let your curiosity and your intuition be your guide.
Letting curiosity be my guide is what led me to create my new INSIDE THE WOONIVERSE podcast, which launched today! ????????
INSIDE THE WOONIVERSE is a weekly podcast series featuring authentic and playful conversations with some of the world’s most interesting sages, scientists and celebrities. I’m so excited to share my guests’ personal stories of spiritual awakening and transformation with you in hopes that it will help you feel inspired and give you permission to continue exploring your spirituality.
The first episode, Why Woo Woo Works with the amazing Dr. David Hamilton is now available. Listen here…

Hi Colette,
I enjoyed reading the article – and needed to read the article! I was drawn to it for a reason!
Life has been pretty hectic for me quite recently, very stressful. Prior to this I used to do the occasional tarot daily card pull and the Tower kept appearing. Wasn’t long before it hit afterwards! Whilst it was a huge wake up, it also frightened me. Not so much the card, but the events that happened.
I have restarted doing the occasional tarot card pull, but feel maybe I should try oracle decks for a while.
I definitely need to find the time to pull a daily card. I pray and light a candle every evening I’m at home (I work night shifts). I never fail to pray or light the candles. Keeping the daily card can – and should be brought into my daily practices as well.
Take care,
Karen
Make the time for a daily card. I wil have to walk the dog earlier, but it will be worth it. And I talk to God while I walk the dog so win win.
Oh, I just took a nice deep breath!
Thank you…plane to make each day a day of growth
Everyday, open my heart and mind to receive guidance as to my soul’s purpose here on earth. I know it’s to help others, but the big question is “How?” So, I keep asking and listening the best I can. The answer will come, but I wish it would be sooner, rather than later–lol…
Congratulations Colette. Just listened to your podcast. Loved it.
I make time for spirit in my morning routine. Plan is to meditate and pull a card every morning and meditate again every evening.
I have forgiven myself if I miss a day and started again the next day. I am working on adding a practice at daily affirmations as I prepared for my day.
Oh I’m so delighted that you found your way to this blog, Karen! keep on going! YOU are awesome! 💖💖💖

Thank you for everything in this blog and particularly that it’s ok that we can’t visualize during a guided meditation. Yay. I thought I was failing! Woo hoo 🥳. I use guided meditation to send me off to sleep at night. Does that count as meditation for the day? As an fyi I can’t find the PDF to download 🌸💮

This is my second year of my Spiritual Journey with you.
Last February, I was eager to go on the journey but so resistant toward it, lol. I didn’t know how to be in the Spiritual journey but to follow you, be in the Woo Circle and accept all things that come along.
I am so grateful to be where I am now. I have a lot more surrendering and radical accepting to do. First, I will enjoy Spiritual being and human being. Thank you, Colette for being my mentor!
this makes me so happy, Hidetaro! so grateful that you’re part of the woo crew! 💜 you’ve come so far and you should be proud of YOU because I am! 💜😊🙌💜
