Are you a Muggle or a Wizard?
I overheard a couple complaining in the grocery store as I was buying apples for my vegan apple crisp recipe. (note to self Macintosh apples go mushy, Empires stay crisp!)
Waa Waa Waa it’s cold, it’s damp, the leaves are wrecking the yard, joints hurt, gas bills are going to go up, it’s getting darker, the squirrels are bugging the dogs, the crows are getting too loud waa waa waa. Did you see ALL THOSE DIRTY LEAVES my goodness waa waa waa. My joints hurt too waa waa waa. So damp and dreary. The colors are nice but they don’t last, no they don’t. waa waa waa.
It occurred to me feeling their energy and listening to their words that they couldn’t see the magic in the world staring them in the face everywhere!
I thought.. hmmm… Muggles!
Yes I have been watching all the Harry Potter movies again in preparation for my new Oracle School that I intend to be my cherished version of Hogwarts legacy. After all I’m past mid life even though my spirit remains forever young, wild, rebellious and free. I want to leave a meaningful contribution.
If Dumbledore was a crimson haired beauty and rode a Harley I would be him now a “her”.
Or I could just be me as I am but you get what I’m saying.
In my vision of the world I see the beauty and living magic in the bright colors that come and go quickly yes but long enough for me to wonder in awe of the moment they burst into color like the Phoenix bird.
I smell the decaying leaves and feel the poetic melancholy of the seasonal change, life dying temporarily, to sleep and dream a new world into being.
I sometimes think the Autumn season was created to teach us about surrender and letting go, of death and dying and the honest ephemeral quality of life, why remaining in the moment is so important to truly take in the splendor of being alive.
I caught myself thinking waa waa waa my joints hurt this morning. Why is Marc not doing this or that- waa waa waa. In my book Uncharted I talk about spiritual narcolepsy and for a moment I dreamt that in my reality there was no magic- just separation.
Yet as we all can, I course corrected! (45 minutes of morning meditation helps immensely)
And….I don’t want to be a Muggle! I want to see the magic in all things. I know this is a choice.
I look out into my yard with acres of fallen leaves and one majestic flaming orange tree whirling in the wind. Yes a phoenix- a mythical firebird lingers between breaths in my yard!
That fiery phoenix bird that explodes then is reborn is in a way a reminder that for some who see through the lens of scarcity and disconnection then the concept of death feels jarring, wrong, fearful of shadows, only able to see the ashes and not the value of them. Then, grief and sadness and all those emotions from which great poetry arises is repressed and somehow distorted.
Life returns in the strangest of ways if you know how to look.
The way we’re willing to see the world determines if we are a Muggle or a Wizard. In the Harry Potter movies they are born to one affinity or the other.
We get to choose.
So if you choose Muggle.. its not bad, its just limited shall we say, and you will only see the world as your five senses and cultural biases dictate. You’ll be influenced by scientific materialism, competition for limited resources, disconnection, separation from the big God in the sky and nowhere close to you etc. etc.
Muggle is actually safer to be honest. Nice and cozy and familiar.. even the fears are your known companions even if you don’t like them, like distant family that shows up uninvited for Christmas dinner. They are still your relatives after all. You have to feed them.
If you choose Wizard, well then everything has purpose Spirit is everywhere inside you outside you in a wildly beautiful connected collaborative abundant universe with endless possibilities. Etc. etc. Wizard is entering the Uncharted and with every step is a magical discovery and the way you get there is to make friends with change, transformation and uncertainty. Not so safe if you crave certainty and the familiar.
So what’ll it be today ..
I choose Wizard …You?
I choose Wizard!
I will always choose a Wizard!!!????
Colette,
I love your Harry Potter references. For me they are very fitting and to the Point.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart that you are doing what you are doing. With you Wisdom of the Oracle cards and your new book you gave me tools to become a better version of me, to be able to help others as well as myself. Reading your book makes me realize I am already doing well, using my intuition and all the tools the Universe gave me.
I am looking forward to your Oracle Class ????
Thank you so much for that weekly stream of LOVE , your magical smile heals my soul,
Love you,
Gilles
Please share the vegan apple crisp recipe as my heart is singing for apples in every way shape and form.
So delighted with the acknowledgment and success with the new oracle cards in Midnight Texas series.
Hi Colette .. I loved reading the blog !!! … and I choose wizard every single time !! .. isn’t it astonishing how easily we fall asleep !! .. last night in the car, on our way out for a family dinner with our two kids, well my lovely 23 year daughter pushed on one of my triggers and off I went .. then my loving husband tried to reel me in with a calmly said truth, pointing to my apparent distress .. and my response ” I am wearing my dirty diaper and i will keep it on as long as I want to, and I will shit in it as many times as i want” hahaha i was fuming !!! .. when we arrived at our destination i did not go in with them .. I waited, i got out and sat outside, i breathed a bit .. after i did that, i left the diaper outside and went in to join them .. the meal was actually good, no fighting, no swearing .. thankfully i am able to get out of that place pretty quickly .. you are helping me all the time, by your example, through your honest talks, the book, the courses, and blogs, it gives me courage to change and stretch beyond what feels comfortable .. thank you .. big giant love to you .. I choose Wizard!
Great way to look at life. I choose to be a wizard, or is it witch?
Great post! So, my DH is a Muggle, but I’m working on Wizard. How do I reconcile this?
Hi Colette!
First I have to say I absolutely LOVE Harry Potter as well. I can so relate to his early life while living under the stairs! And Fall is my most favorite time of year. Originally from Chicago, for me, there is no smell more beautiful than that of burning leaves. That is one of my most favorite childhood memories!
I use my aches and joint pains as a prayer of gratitude – “Thank you God that I can walk!” and I consider autumn-colored trees as paintings by God Himself. How could they be anything but!
Many Blessings and Thank You for your Wizarding Ways!
I choose to be the eccentric 57 year old lady with maybe turquoise hair who makes awesome candles for a living and lives in a cozy motorhome. It’s hard to be a muggle when magic is all around…Thank you Colette! Your blogs are always inspiring. You make me smile : )
I love this!!! Your so fun and inspiring!! Always wanted to be magical so I will take wizard!!! My ex husband is definatly a muggle ????????????
Not long ago, I had two “epiphanies” about life – my life in particular. These unexpected, “uncharted” course corrections both occurred simultaneously with times of realized and immense gratitude. I was also aware that shedding negativity really brings gratitude into focus and helps one fully understand what it means to be a Wizard among the Muggles. Thank you Colette for raising such awareness in the world, lighting one candle at a time, and helping another wild child find her “match”.
LOVE THIS
love it welcome wizard!
love the turquoise hair !! maybe that’s my next color!
big love xoxox
what is a DH?
big love lISA!!
ok big bowl 3 tablespoons coconut oil 5 apples cut up, 1/2 cup almond flour, 1/2 cup hazelnut flour /1/2 cup gluten free oats, 1/4 cup pineapple juice, lemon juice, some dried ginger, a few raisins, lots of cinnamon, 4 tablespoons coconut sugar, mush together pre-heat oven 375 and bake for 30 mins!
big love right back at you
lots of love to you Eva!
At 55 I’ve pretty much lived my life on the fence, so my first reaction was to say 1/2 Muggle and 1/2 wizzard; however you have inspired me to scream out, Wizzard!!! Yes, I can fly !! ????
whoop!!!
DH = Dear Husband; DS = Dear Son; DD = Dear Daughter; MIL = Mother-in-Law; etc. 😉
I am a wizard that is for certain…. My goblins try to convince me I’m a muggle but I snap out of pretty quickly lol
I choose the magic and way of the wizard! But I have got off the path many times! Your humor and energy resonates with me so much. Much love, lizzie
i’m a Wizard always..love that post…love HP
Wizard! Love the reference and can’t wait for what you are creating! -Christine
Wizard!!! Love your idea and can’t wait to hear more!
sounds absolutely delicious… I am definitely going to try this! We just picked some local Fuji apples that are so very juicy and delicious with a bit of tart to them: these should work well with the other ingredients. Thank you for sharing (ps I am enjoying Uncharted immensely! I am grateful to you & Quantum Fred 🙂 )
Wizard. Always wizard. Except for momentary visits to Muggledom, then my inner wizard must use the rennervate spell to sort its way out of muggledom and return to its Dragon to fly
So love your Blog Colette, its always inspiring, informing and enlightening. As for being a Muggle or a Wizard l can honestly say I’ve been both. The last ten years have taught me a lot about thinking and being Positive, mediation has changed my way of thinking. I’ve gotten out my own way, and allowed Spirit to guide and direct me to people and things that fill my Spirit with Joy and Gratitude. Your one of those Special people, l admire your Strength in all you have been through, thank you for being a Inspiration to use all. So at this Autumn of my Life l can honestly say l have truly become a Wizard. I find Beauty every day. Namaste beautiful Lady

Wizard!
OH, Wizard for sure! To many juggles around me as it is — they see only the soot in the fireplace. It’s like some of the parents of the kids I teach. They just want to drop them off & do their own thing, never realizing how fleeting a moment is they are little for such a short time, just as the leaves are blended colors for only weeks. And winter crystals are only a moment longer— savor the moments. When they are gone, they can’t be reproduced. everything and anything will only ever be what you make of it. I choose ????????????✨????
Thanx Colette! With this blog you just made my ” what I am soo grateful for today !! ” list really a whole lot longer! Lots of ❤️ from me to you!! ( I chose wizard, for sure ???? )
I Love he comments! Some great reply’s..so fun! I am totally a wizard 😉 and LOVE fall and Harry Potter also! Huge fans of both. <3 I love that you use stories..I am a huge reader..I will literally read anything ..even the cereal box.haha My Mark always teases that I live in a fantasy world and I reply yes! Why not! Stories is how I relate to life and the world and seethe magical threads in all books that connect to all so called reality. I think ALL books are self help books if you see the Magic in them.
Harry potter is in my top all time favourites..Also really LOVE the Abhorsen Trilogy…Gath Nix Tons of magic and talk about walking in 2 worlds and uncharted places. Love that you are using stories.Hopefully most people will choose Wizards but if not thats ok for them too.
love it!
Hi Colette, i liked the apple tip! Thank you, I’ve been daydreaming about making goodies from scratch with apples. Apple turnovers sound delicious. I definitely choose wizard, this is the best time of year to get out there & see those vibrant colors. Instead of burning my leaves I put packets of yeast & water on my leaf pile to decay them into dirt. Being in the moment can be a bit of a struggle so I breathe through it or meditate. Thank you for emphasizing the importance of meditation, such a life saver !
I choose Wizard even though it gets tough being around energy sucking Muggles. I ask the Angels to help shield me.
This totally spoke to me.. we have the power and choice to see or not see the magic and beauty in our lives and all that is around us. Life is magic! Miracles happen every day! It is a matter of are you looking and listening for them. Just come from a place of love and gratitude and spirit will open so much for you.. I am definitely a wizard! Love all you do!
yep a choice.. truly 😉
hahahah. yup.. true
we never miss a day of meditation …
totally right? Magic is the essence of our world.. and I too love the fantasy stories. All of “em.
xo
right only the soot in the fireplace … good metaphor
Totally synchronistic. I’ve recently come out with my Freak Flag to my therapist. Today I told her about my magical Harry Potter wand along with the Stupefy spell (for my protection) and that I thought I’d retire the wand with the spell to which she awesomely replied that I may want to hold onto it inwardly.
lololol. very very funny
Hi Colette! I was born in Autumn, Friday 13th October, but if I had to be true, I prefer Spring, because I love wind and don’t like rain. However, I must admit Autumn colors are so astonishing. I’ve just bought the last book of Harry Potter saga in Italian language, and looking for the time for start reading. I wish days last for 48 hours, because 24 are not enough to do all. Or, better, I wish I had that little magic instrument Hermione had in the third movie, I don’t know the English name, it was translated in Italian language as “Giratempo”. She used to take more lessons, I’d use it to do things and read books and watch spiritual movies and cast spells etc etc. As about your answer, I’m definitely a Wiccan. Sometimes I make a little magic, but time is slipping away from my hands… And yes, I’d like to take your oracle course, even if I’m already an Oracle, but I don’t know I can’t effort the price, because in my busy days actually there is not a paid job…
Hi Colette. a wizzard for me. will try your recipe. Ps my joints hurt all the time .yours is proberly from your accident. Hope I get to see you I am going to Canada Vancouver next May. Veronica From Liverpool England have your new book but no tead it yet. God bless x
Oh oh oh!!! Absolutely McKintosh apples are the best! Grew up on those, sprinkled with a little salt or dipped in cinnamon sugar or slathered in peanut butter or made into chunky applesauce or move over here comes Nana’s apple pie! Oh and apple dumplings and apple spice cake——I’m DEFINATELY a wizard! I just tasted all of those things while laying on the couch ???????????????????? And being a GF vegan you can be sure I’m going to bake the macs tomorrow!
Thank you so much for this, Colette. I shall share this which feels so attuned to your blog. Today, in the St. Lawrence Market area of Toronto, I spent some hours with a dear, dear friend who is about to turn 101 on October 24th. I met her in 1994 under very “curious circumstances of connection”. I am of the generation of her children. She has been for me a bright and magical muse of universal knowledge, open heart and love, and yet through those years she has seriously challenged me to enter places I did not ever want to go (serious mugglings there). As I left her today I was anxiously on my way to do shopping, get home and attend to all the things that were in my mind that must be done tonight. Then, as I was walking through the trees in the little park by her building, I felt I had to stop and turn around. And there was a Peregrine falcon flying low above the trees, riding the wind currents in its perfect nature. I went still and surrendered in that place for a long time. I just stopped. For me I can say that the wizard sees, feels and hears that which is always calling us for our greatest good and that of others. I can muggle for a bit, but it seems my wizard now has a stronger place in me. Today I was within the wizard with my friend, then I did muggle, then I surrendered once again to my wizard – the falcon awakened me. I am so much better for that, and all of those things which must get done, always do, without effort. As I think of it tonight, I’m becoming so much more aware of my “mugglings”. Thank you again, for the clarity today. I would not have otherwise relived and ended my day quite like this.
OMG I love this… we are all a bit of both are we not? And that too is deep and beautiful magic in itself. Life only wants our attention some times.. and the gift back.. priceless.
mine tasted better cold FYI.. was kind of so so warm. but Real good cold.. I will admit we ate the whole thing!
Thank you so much Colette. For some reason tonight I feel I must pass this on: the Moody Blues popped into my mind after many, many years, their song called The Balance.
Thank you Margaret for this wonderful and inspiring story! ???? Sending you lots of love from Germany! ????????????????
Thank you so much dear Colette for this inspiring blog! I am definitely Hermine ????. Lots of love to you!
Sweet! Granny Smith will rock your Apple Crisp! 🙂
will try that!
love that song….
Wizard, thank you! Or is that Wizardress? In any case, a life of wizardry is what I choose. Because magic. Because awe. Because uncharted waters. 😉 xo
Always magic … always the wizard. No coincidence that I didn’t have time to read until today. The message from spirit during my morning quiet-time journaling was pretty much the same. We all have a choice but so many choose to see anything but magic. As for me, I choose MAGIC. I’m right on board with the person who posted they were an eccentric 57 with turquoise hair … I’m pushing 60 and embracing the free spirit that’s been stuffed for way to long (an my gray hair … no more chemicals for me). We were actually just talking as a family about selling out here in FL and moving to the Pacific Northwest with drastically smaller, simplified, more peace-filled lives.
Just curious if you have heard her song Uncharted by Sara Bareilles ? PS so happy that you are continuing on your written legacy !!! Another favorite is a gal duo called Mamuse. Very magical ! Hearts to you .
Yes, Dear Husband. Should have said The Hubs…
Loving your blogs, UNCHARTED, cards and weekly readings. We live in a magical world and when Co-Creating with Spirit, receiving messages from sources throughout the universe and our earth angels who also shine their light, (you are one of many Colette), how can we not believe because of our connective”ness” that we aren’t wizards? Namaste
Thank you very much for this, I really needed it. I choose wizard, always…
I always tell my kids they’re Magic.I tell them that they just have to find it. They never believe me – at first. When a realization or a gift of confirmation happens, they almost fall over, even get scared. But Im so happy thst Im there with them, and congratulate them.At first scared then ad we share the truths they become proud.Small kids are fresh, believing. The best….Adults always fight it, why? ……Oh…Wizard here, fighting for the truth.Good Question, creates dialogue.Meegwetch!
If I posted this then please remove it. Don’t know if I pushed the button??
Dare I admit that I have never read a Harry Potter novel/or seen a Harry Potter movie!! However being a curious-minded person; I recall reading that J.K. Rowling was on a train from Manchester to London and it broke down. As there was a long wait somewhere between no longer and not yet; she noticed a field where there were many black/white cows grazing. While she was staring out the window; the former administrative assistant was inspired and began to imagine the characters and the outline for her first book. We are all really in the process of writing the next chapter whether conscious or not. Embracing the mystery; and the laws of nature dictate that new opportunities emerge from the disintegration of old parts of our lives. Somehow everything is woven into the tapestry. It has a place.
As I think of fall; I see the transformation which is always so breathtaking and before we know it, the branches of the trees are naked and barren. Shedding is a process that releases the old and in the case of the leaves they become the nutriment for something else. Can’t think of a more beautiful time of the season. With so many varieties of apples available; there are so many to savor and taste.
One of my favorites Mutsu, crisp, juicy and a bit tart. With the crunch of an apple between my teeth and the leaves under my feet; I am reminded of how “wonder-filled” it all is. The GRAND DESIGN. A reason for everything, event, all divinely timed and on purpose. We might not understand the plot at first, but as the story unfolds it seems to make sense. So off I go with magic wand in hand; awaiting signs from SPIRIT about the next step, or maybe chapter that is already being
written. Who knows?? I might even be moved to explore the world of Harry Potter
Lots of Love
Love looking at miracles as a muggle/ wizard struggle, Colette!
Like it says in a course in miracles, (of which I am a bad student): “If no miracles are happening, something’s wrong” 🙂
Yep, some days you can see those miracles easily and other days your ____ (fill in the blank) hurt! Or maybe you’re coming down with a case of the muggles?
Fall is my favorite season, too! Living in europe I miss the mellowcreme pumpkins of my childhood. But it’s better not to have them too close (along with oreo cookies and krispy kreme doughnuts!) I think it’s time to get baking! My favourite comfort food is an easy applesauce spice sheet cake (filled with cinnamon and nutmeg, ginger . . . drool!)
Loved your video with Nick Ortner – – doing a EFT-tapping practitioner course in Switzerland this weekend. I find it so helpful – – have my muggle days when I forget to use it, too.
Got your new book and am beginning it tonight! Finally stole the time!
that is so cool .. I went to school in Lausanne when I was a troubled teen. I haven’t been back in so long I really want to go! have the best time. 😉
great post Renee
love this
love xoxox
yes I love it.. I am writing one now too
you were my sign today Debi.. was thinking about dragonflies … and there you are!
yes!
loved the reading , was exactly what I needed to hear this week… and thanks for the recipe—fantastic ..have make it again and often, everyone loved it. Even gave some to my wee little pooch… she loved it. You are such an amazing person, touching my soul so often
Let me start out by saying I know nothing of Harry Potter EXCEPT I tried to see the first movie and it was SO LOUD….no clue who or what he does but he I believe he has a wand, and stuff is flying around and there are hog warts (I think). I do know more about the amazing and brilliant woman author than the story she writes.
Ok…so I didn’t even get to read what the definition of Wizard was. I read the Muggle definition. No, not me. Oh, safe….hell to the no (as my sister would say). I am (as scary as it may be) a walking model of Wizard for my children and grandchildren. I choose Wizard.
I am grateful beyond belief the universe sent me a random email and introduced me to Colette. Let the teachings being (again).
With the utmost respect, Brenda
Please write more posts like this one!!! I can not tell you how much magic I feel in the Harry Potter stories. Too much to write here, but to pair it with your writings is almost too much magic. I say almost loosely because I would LOVE more. I so resinate just with the words magic and mystical. I just feel “home”. I am anxious for anything that you do that uses Harry Potter and your writings. Say that you have more like this!!!!

HI Lisa:
I’m glad you’re learning to reel yourself in more easily, but I also wanted to point out that you are under no obligation to go out to dinner with someone who pushes your buttons. I understand that we don’t have to react, but we also get to choose with whom we spend our time. If your daughter is 23 years old, you can bet your booty she knows what your buttons are. That is also a choice. Go where you’re celebrated, not where you’re tolerated. Much love to you, Della.
Everyone here has had so many terrific offerings – I loved the story of Margaret Miller and her lovely friend. It brought me back to my own grandmother who was with us until she was 102. If she could have hung around a few months longer, she would have lived in 3 separate centuries. What a life filled with change in the world she experienced. It was magical. From pot bellied stove for heat to central air. From a letter taking a week to get from Michigan to California, to phones and then the Internet. From horse drawn carriages to autos, planes and rockets to the moon. From kerosene lamps to light switch on the wall. And being in Detroit she saw and met so many of the innovators and the developers. I miss her and my mom —
Today as I worked outside to get my Halloween Graveyard ready. I do things slowly to keep the element of surprise. I live newer 3 schools, so lots of kids around. Been doing it since 1988 so now some of the adults who lived here as kids now brin me their children to taunt and tickle with tricks and treats and lighted delight. As I worked alone, my great blue heron flew over. He turned around and came back to hover and then fly down to the creek near me. The Heron is my symbol for solitary accomplishments. ????
I baked your apple recipe after today’s decorating. ❣❣❣❣❣❣ OMG—– like I went to heaven! I make my own cashew cream and I reserved some for a frozen treat! That on the hot apples—–drool. Kitchen Witch that I am —
And btw—you’re right – the apples are better at room temp — Congratulations on the tv show! I will be watching for sure!
Dear Colette and All
Thank you for another great blog. I also have not yet read Harry Potter, plan to as soon as I can borrow them from my grandkids(nobody can find the first book right now, LOL). However, I grew up with the beloved Narnia series…and spent hours soaking in the magic world of Narnia with it’s grace and serendipity, unconditional love teachings. So, in that form, and many others, Wizard has been present as long as I can recall…but lots of muggle sleeptime through the years also. Nevertheless, the Wizardness gave me some major awakenings ( sobriety, meditation, Course in Miracles) throughout the years, and I began to claim who I have always been. Wizard, for me, always. I definitely have Muggle moments now but I have little tolerance for how that feels and ask for correction as soon as possible. The battle becomes less arduous and surrender to Higher Power so much easier. The Wizard in me won’t let me sleep too long before re-minding me to be in beauty, to choose peace. I welcome the Uncharted, because I know there is a plan for me which I can’t see but have come to trust deeply.
As for apples: a way I love fall apples is to stuff them with a date and a few walnuts or almonds , sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamon and bake. Delicious with some muesli and a dob of coconut yogourt… 🙂
Love to all, thank you again…
PS- looking forward to hearing your new song, Colette 😉
oooooh that sounds yummy.. and yes we are all Muggles at times but with the magic of the Wizard inside..
Put me on the list to try this recipe also … LOV 🙂
“Go where you’re celebrated, not where you’re tolerated” by Della Monk
Working as a “temp” and everytime I do for these companies the assigned folk leave me feeling “incompetent”. I find temps are expected to be experts at a dirt price.
First and foremost – Respect practiced is only being human – therefore if respect is lacking then something non-human is afoot(unfortunate for me for sure); thoughts of something better entertain me.
Taking individuals for granted is a no-no, good manners all the way – it is said.

Also an apple recipe worth trying … thank you Shelley

I have seen the nature’s miracle of grass clippings turning to dirt however I hesitate with my leave since it takes longer to turn but I will look into your recipe maybe it will make decay faster.

Writing this sunday oct. 23. had a sudden impulse to pull a card of the day for Colette (never had such an impulse): resting tree challenger.
When you define these two characteristics, Margaret, I identify with my abstract hearts showing up in hard places and Colette’s dragonflies both which remind me of the magical connection of the wizardry-ness in this lifetime.
My hearts are a symbol for me to stop and appreciate existence and my purpose as well as the dragonflies remind me of Colette’s Tribe and it’s “spirit” purpose of a higher-power such as P :)ACE and LOV 🙂 Amen
Prayer/Meditation Blessings
Lausanne is a beautiful, beautiful town! OUCHY – – my love! Well, perhaps we need to do an oracle course in Switzerland . . . .:-)
The EFT course was amazing btw . . .
I chose Wizard. Thank you Colette for the brief reminder that even thou Fall brought death and ashes very close to my heart this year that there is a Phoenix that will rise from these ashes. Thank you for writing your blog and keeping it real and organic! Love you!
I CHOOSE WIZARD!!!!
