A Complete Weight Loss Transformation Is Much More Than Just Dropping Pounds
What if you could experience a weight loss transformation that wasn’t just about getting physically smaller? Yes, we want to be thin; we want to fit into our old clothes; we want to stop seeing disdainful looks; the list goes on and on. But what is the real reason? We want to be able to look in the mirror and be happy with what we see. I know, obvious answer, but look more closely.
The bottom line is that we want to be happy!
Now consider this: what if we’ve got this backwards? What if, instead of thinking, “If only I could lose weight, then I would be happy,” we said, “If only I could figure out how to be happy, then I would lose weight”?
Armed now with Colette Baron-Reid’s book Weight Loss For People Who Feel Too Much, I propose just that: teach yourself how to be happy, and you will witness your own dramatic weight loss transformation. Read it again slowly, as this is a moment that could potentially change your life forever.
If you can get yourself happy, you will lose weight!
For many of us, there’s an invisible, but not talked about, very important piece of the puzzle when it comes to understanding why we gain and hold onto weight: empathy overload. We are, literally, carrying other people’s emotional pain. Usually, we have our own unresolved hurts that burden us as well. Traumas from our past sit just below the surface of awareness, causing a generalized feeling of discomfort or anxiety, then acute pain when the memory is triggered and reappears.
This isn’t a flaw. On the contrary, it’s part of the reason why we feel other people so easily and accurately, and why we often find ourselves drawn to the healing professions. Our highly empathic nature is a gift, but those moments of emotional overwhelm are also the moments when our hand has suddenly found the bottom of an empty cookie jar. Most simply put, we eat to soothe ourselves.
the why!
Colette’s book Weight Loss For People Who Feel Too Much explains how and why this happens in much greater detail. She reveals why a new diet works for a while and sometimes even helps you reach your weight loss goals, but that it’s not a complete transformation and is often temporary unless you have also found a way to consistently feel great too. Again, this is oversimplified, but intuitively, you know what I am talking about. The yo-yo continues because we become exhausted from trying to control our appetites. What we don’t realize is that we have taken away our means of dealing with empathy overload without replacing it with something else.
You don’t have to feel hopeless anymore; there’s a solution that works. You can have the life you deserve and dream about, and you can have it starting now. Will being happy mean you become so content that you don’t care if you’re heavy or not? No, it will mean quite the opposite! Making healthy food and lifestyle choices will become a natural extension of who you are. Effort and willpower become obsolete, and self-care becomes the new norm; and your weight loss transformation WILL be complete, because you will feel awesome too. Be part of the wave of people who are claiming 2013 as the year they took their lives back for good!
